Q. Is Fokus Hotel Management software easy to use?
A. Fokus is very easy to use, many parts of the system are self explanatory to use, very often during training, we get told ‘That was easy!’
Q. How long does training take?
A. Depending on the number of people on a training session, most staff can be trained between 2-4 hours, with an extra 1-2 hours for management level. Many staff comment that the screens are self explanatory.
Q. How many rooms can Fokus support.
A. The Fokus software can support up to 300 rooms, these include any rooms set aside for use as function rooms or overbooking / wait listing. Additionally a further 100 virtual rooms can be assigned for storing open bills / tabs, say for a function, conference or group reservation that requires a consolidated bill.
Q. How many cost centres can Fokus support?
A. Each cost centre is categorised under an Analysis Code for reporting purposes, there are 10 Analysis codes, each having 20 Cost Centres, so there is up to 200 Cost Centres. An example would be that under Analysis Code ‘Food’, you may have the Cost Centres ‘Breakfast’, ‘Lunch’ , ‘Dinner’ and ‘Function Food’. Each Cost Centre, can be set as VAT able or Non VAT able.
Q. Is Fokus multi-user and how many computers can run Fokus?
A. Fokus can be operated simultaneously on up to 20 PC’s.
Q. What security control does Fokus have?
A. Fokus supports up to 20 users / staff, each user can be configured as to what sections of Fokus they have access too. For example, only head receptionist and management staff would have access to financial projection reports and historic financial reports.
Q. Can Fokus run on an Apple PC / Notebook?
A. Fokus is designed to only run on Windows operating system, however, it will operate on an Apple MAC using an additional ‘Virtual Machine’ software like ‘Platforms’
Q. How far in the future can I make bookings for on Fokus?
A. Bookings can be made for up to 4 years in advance.
Q. How quick is the channel manager inventory updated from Fokus.
A. When a change to inventory happens on Fokus, inventory is updated to the channel manager within 10-15 seconds, depending on server load of the channel manager, inventory can take up to a further 90 seconds to reflect on a hotel’s booking engine and extranet channels such as booking.com
Q. How long does a booking made on an extranet channel (like booking.com) or a hotels booking engine take to appear in Fokus.
A. Depending on how busy the extranet channel’s servers are, reservations made, take between 15 seconds and 6 minutes to arrive. You will still receive email confirmation of all bookings made online from the extranet or booking engine.
Q. What EPoS systems does Fokus link to?
A. Fokus links to ‘TouchPoint’ from ‘ICRTouch’, ‘GPoS ‘from ‘Fidelity Systems’ and also to the older ‘Uniwell TX / DX’ range of tills.
